This book is a compilation of some published (semi) official reports and documents, it is aimed at re-constructing and re-examining of the subaltern classes of East Bengal in the late nineteenth century.
So to encourage the scholars to work on the subalterns of nineteenth century and to provide them with materials this compilation work has been under taken. Although these compiled reports were generally all Bengal based, only the East Bengal (present Bangladesh) portions have been selected from them.
